Default Black Death Autonomous Vehicle

This is for the National Instruments Project in South Africa.

It has Distance sensors, Color Sensors, Tilt Sensors and a compass....

This is our 2 cars...

We are 2 teams ( Black (Mine) and Blue)

This is the Black car:

With the car self we only replaced the shocks with solid perspex. We replaced the servo with a 10KG servo (MG 945). We took out the RF and the speed control. We also hardened the wheels. We replaced the pinions with 18. The batteries is also working in parallel.

This is the blue car:

With this car they just hardened the shocks. They replaced the servo with a 10KG servo (MG 945). They took out the RF and the speed control. They also hardened the wheels. They replaced the pinions with 17. The batteries is also working in parallel.

Default Part 2

This is a top view of our car:

We used Diffuse reflective sensors, to see any objects. National Instruments gave us a CRio to do all the computing.... Its like a small PC. The PC board on top has a compass to give us heading and a accelerometer to give us the tilt of the vehicle.

We designed our own h-bridge (Speed Control). They can handle 70A. One for each motor. I know this is overkill but our car weight 12KG...

We used shaft encoders (17 degrees) to calculate our distance traveled... We used to color sensors in front to detect color. They are programmable to detect any color.

They used Ultra sonic sensors to see object and magnetic sensors to detect distance..

The cars had to be fully autonomous. They must also be able to guide themselves though a "minefield" with guided points... They must also be able to detect yellow reflective tape....

This is our final year project. We are 3 on a team. Computer & Electronic Eng.
